The most obvious and distinct icon you can see when arriving at Maasin City by boat. It is in the top of the hills. Jalleca Hills is the highest privately owned shrine you can find in the Philippines. You can see the statue of Our Lady of Assumption. It is around 105 meters above see level.
It has more than 300 steps to reach the shrine. It is located in Barangay Mantahan, Maasin City. The only way to reach it is go the old Provincial Hospital in Mantahan and you should see the concrete stairways leading to the shrine. The iconic structure can be seen from afar and not only visible by day time but also during night time. A lot of people visit the shrine not just to meditate and pray, others go up every afternoon to find peace and enjoy the view of the beautiful sunset and at the same time its a good way to have exercise taking the 300 and more steps.
